Finding The Right Baby Shower Venue

If you are expecting, you are probably looking forward to the various baby showers that take place to celebrate the upcoming birth of your child. While many of these special events are still held in someone’s home, more are held outside the residence. This ensures that everyone can be accommodated. It also means the host, the guests and the expectant mother will not have to clean up afterwards. This makes it easier in one sense, but finding the right baby shower venue on Long Island is not necessarily simple.

The “To Do” List

For those in charge of planning the baby shower, The Carltun suggests you put together a basic list on what you need and what you need to do before you even check out any potential Long Island venues. The “To Do” list should include the following instructions or items:

  • Prepare the guest list - Know exactly how many people you are planning to invite and how many will attend. This will help you choose the venue that will accommodate you and the baby shower crowd
  • Compile a bunch of potential themes - They might affect the décor you want from the baby shower venue or the amount of space you need
  • Décor – What type do you envision for the baby shower? The venue may provide it or you may be expected to arrange for it to be put up.
  • Favors - Do you plan on having them? If so, what type?
  • Gifts – You will need some place to put the gifts without crowding the mother-to-be or the guests. You also need some area to put the wrapping paper after it, the ribbons and etc. are removed. Do you plan to display them for all to see?
  • Recording – you will require someone to write down the gifts and their givers so the mother-to-be can thanks them later. This is particularly valuable if the gift is from someone who could not be there for the baby shower
  • Refreshments – What kind of refreshments are you planning? These may depend upon the time of day the event occurs. Will you have light refreshments or a more substantial meal?

Baby Shower Venue

After you have prepared the list, you can then look at the potential baby shower venues. On Long Island, there are several that may fulfill your intent and requirements, including The Carltun. Once you have checked them out online and in person, you should be able to make an informed decision. You should be able to select the perfect baby shower venue on Long Island at which to hold your event.

Tips for Planning a Gender Neutral Baby Shower

While it seems like everyone finds out the gender of their unborn baby, more couples are starting to embrace the old school notion of being surprised at the birth. This has caused a resurgence of gender neutral baby showers, and some hostesses have trouble figuring out how to plan when you can no longer rely on the traditional pink or blue themes. The first step is to find a baby shower venue in Long Island that has the amount of room you need, and then you can begin planning for the shower.

Only Choose Yellow If the Mom to Be Loves It

Unless you know the mom-to-be absolutely adores the color yellow, it’s best to choose a different color palette. Yellow was the go-to color years ago before baby manufacturers started creating items in an array of different colors, so it has a retro feel. There are a variety of shades of green, orange, red, and creams. You could also go with a black and white palette for a classic look on a gender neutral party. When you choose a baby shower venue in Long Island, ask to speak to the party planner who will probably have some ideas about what you can do as far as color scheme goes. Remember to choose a shade that’s popular for decorations, so that you don’t end up with a great color but can’t find anything to decorate with in that color.

Pick a General Party Theme

When you know the gender of an unborn baby, it’s easy to pick a theme. You’ll have to think outside the box when it comes to gender neutral showers. You could go with a phrase like ‘cute as a button’ and use buttons to decorate. Another idea is a phrase like ‘a dream come true,’ and use moon and stars to decorate. Teddy bears are another gender neutral idea that provides a lot of different ideas for decorations.

Before you book a baby shower venue in Long Island, take a peek at the different rooms available and use that as inspiration for a theme. There are so many unique ways to plan a gender neutral baby shower, that party hostesses shouldn’t feel like they’re stuck with planning a yellow and white shower.
